He has a long-standing interest in the quality of education, competence development, professional tertiary education and the impact of technology on tertiary education. He leads the National Centre for Distance Education (NCDV) and organises DisCo conferences on digitalisation of education.

He deals with various issues of higher education and its relationship to society (e.g. the education of teachers, gender inequalities in the remuneration of university graduates, student societies and academic inbreeding). He is also working on accessibility of higher education topics in the framework of the online encyclopedia Aulawiki.

She examines the role and position of students in the decision-making mechanisms of Czech HEIs. She also focuses on the attitudes and living conditions of students at Czech HEIs and on the issue of doctoral studies (preparation, implementation and analysis of the survey Doctorands 2021). .
