Graduate 2018 (Absolvent 2018)
The Graduate 2018 research project is carried out by the Centre for Higher Education Studies in cooperation with the Education Policy Centre at the Faculty of Education of the Charles University and with kind cooperation of the participating HEIs in the Czech Republic according to the assignment of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
The survey consists of two parts:
- – description and analysis of the quality of the completed education in relation with transition of the HEI’s graduates to the labour market and their further employment and career path;
- – description and analysis of involvement of the graduates on the labour market and their short term as well as long term employability with regard to the gained education from the employers‘ point of view.
The main target group of the survey are graduates of the bachelor, master and doctoral study programs, who completed their study between 01/01/2013 – 31/12/2017 and did not continue in any other study program of any HEI in 2018 or during the survey. The second target group are employers of the graduates from the first target group.
The questionnaires can be filled out from 8/10/2018 to 16/12/2018.
Participation in the survey is voluntary. A respondent can end the participation without giving reasons at anytime.
The purpose of the survey
The purpose of the survey is to provide the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports with information important for higher education policy conception. The data obtained will also give educational institutions much needed feedback and ideas for improvement. Lastly, the survey results will provide applicants and current students with valuable knowledge about the chances of finding employment within their particular field of study. The nation-wide scope of this project is its unique feature and it will allow for proper and pertinent comparison of the higher education institutions and their graduates.
The project management
The project management requires cooperation of many subjects. The involved subjects are being coordinated by the Centre for Higher Education Studies in cooperation with the Education Policy Centre at the Faculty of Education of the Charles University and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The survey would be impossible without essential involvement of the HEIs who contact their graduates with the request to fill out the questionnaire. E-mails were chosen for communication. The questionnaire web application is created and administered by company ppm factum research s. r. o.
Personal data protection
Addressing graduates for the purposes of the Graduate 2018 project which aims for data collection necessary to improve the quality of higher education institutions, is understood to be the processing of personal data necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests of the controller of the personal data (i.e. the relevant higher education institution) in accordance with Article 6(1) lit. f of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation). The legal basis of the legitimate interest of the higher education institutions as the controllers of personal data are Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendments and Supplement to Some Other Acts as amended (Sections 77a, 77b, 78) and Government Regulation No. 274/2016 Coll. on Standards for Accreditation in Higher Education.
More detailed information about privacy and personal data protection is available while completing the questionnaire.
Ensuring anonymity of the survey
Each graduate will receive a direct link/unique URL to be able to enter the questionnaire. The direct link/unique URL will be generated by the agency responsible for data collection and sent to the graduates by the HEIs. The HEIs will receive list of the direct links of the graduates who have filled out the questionnaire already for the purpose of reminding. Thus the questioning will remain anonymous, because the researchers and the agency will know the direct links and the completed questionnaires, but no names or addresses, because they will not get them from the HEIs, while the HEIs will know the names/addresses and direct links, but will not be able to match them with the result sets.
The graduates will be asked at the end of the questionnaire to (voluntarily) address their employers (their superior, HRO) with e-mail. So the employers will be able to directly enter into the employer’s questionnaire. There will be neither need nor possibility neither for the researcher nor for the agency to gain and collect any data of the employers.
Results of the project
The results of the project will be published on this website before the end of 2019.
