Informační a komunikační technologie a vysokoškolský student v éře mobilních technologií
Information and Communication Technology and Higher Education Student in the Age of Mobile Technologies
Abstract: This study summarizes results of survey at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen in the Czech Republic between December 2014 and March 2015. Its goal was to probe and describe the ICT equipment of university student and to map experience with and attitude towards use of technology when learning. Attention was also given to mobile devices (tablets, smartphones, e-readers). Inspiration and methodology baseline for this survey was ECAR Study 2014. The questionnaire used in the Czech Republic contained subset of questions from the original study both translated and verbatim. Total of 169 students of Faculty of Applied Sciences (FAV) and Faculty of Education (FPE) of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen replied to subret of questions taken from ECAR Study 2014. Analysis of the data made base for assessment of future needs of university information systems design and set up as well as various possible adaptations of teaching methods and use of mobile devices for learning. This research probe enabled comparison of situation at two different faculties but at the same time revealed similarities and differences between ECAR Study 2014 respondents and our respondents. We found that our respondents are less sceptical and critical towards information and communication technologies and declare themselves as “technophiles”. On the other hand they are more conservative in relation to technologies and less insatiable of new technologies. Compared to results of the ECAR Study 2014, the online collaboration tool, smartphones and tablets are much less used and our respondents are generally more sceptical in that better use of the technologies could improve their efficiency in their studies despite they are generally more open towards technologies as such.

Analýza využívání termínu Open Educational Ressource na českých vysokých školách v mezinárodním kontextu
Analysis of the use of the term Open Educational Resources at Czech higher education institutions in international context
Abstract: The study introduces the concept of Open Educational Resources (OER) which is in the context of international educational trends currently becoming a topic of discussions also in the Czech Republic. The aim of the study is to define the term OER based on existing definitions of international organisations, to provide an overview of global developments in the area of OER and to summarize the use of the term OER in research, educational and promotional activities at Czech higher education institutions. The analysis of selected research databases shows that OER is specifically mentioned in publications or research projects at 3 universities in the Czech Republic. Publicly available information further shows that 5 Czech universities have on their website information in the area of education and public promotion of OER. Overall, university staff at 8 universities is active in the area of OER, which represents about one fourth of all public universities in the country. This analysis offers the first indicative information on the relatively low usage of the term OER at Czech higher education institutions, despite activities being already developed more widely (but not always being called OER). Further research is needed for better understanding of the role and future of OER in the Czech higher education system.

Diplomové práce jako zdroj dat ve výzkumu terciárního vzdělávání: metodologické výzvy a ukázky využití na příkladu studijních programů veřejné politiky
Diploma theses as a source of data in tertiary education research: methodological challenges and applications at the case of Public policy study programmes
Abstract: The methodological paper presents diploma theses as a rich and yet undiscovered source of data for analysis of tertiary education study programmes. The biggest advantage of the diploma theses is their accessibility as all theses in the Czech Republic have to be publicly available. An analysis based on these data may be useful in many ways: it may provide self-reflection of and for study programmes, it may help applicants and students to understand the features of the programmes and it may also contribute to the understanding of general trends in Czech tertiary education. First, the paper reviews the use of diploma theses in research, than it discusses particular specifics of the data which should be taken into account in order to reach the best results. To be illustrative, later we show the outputs of respective analyses focused on description of one study programme development within past 20 years, comparison of full-time and combined form of study within one study programme and comparison of several study programmes.
Zprávy z výzkumu
Předpoklady, očekávání, kompetence a motivace profesního uplatnění vysokoškolských studentů se specifickými vzdělávacími potřebami
Assumptions, expectations, skills and motivation and employability of university students with special educational needs
Abstract: The article deals with the significant factors affecting the academic and professional success of students with special educational needs or with physical (not only) disability. It notes correlation between study conditions and student’s disability in the context of his wishes, expectations, motivation, competence and awareness of the meaning of his aspirations. It highlights the link between study, work and applying solid quality of life. It also discusses the possibilities and limits of counselling support and facilitation of learning of students with disabilities. It is based mainly on situational analysis and process knowledge of twenty years of empirical research, which summarizes and interprets the context of the current situation in the Czech university environment.
